At the beginning of November 2019, the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, said in Hangzhou, after visiting the company "Alibaba", that she hopes that in the next few months it will be possible to pay via "Alipay" in Serbia.

Just under 6 months later, payment by QR code by phone came to life in Serbia, which means that consumers will be able to pay for goods and services at most points of sale and facilities that currently accept cards.

27.02.2020. in a Mercator S sales facility, the governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), Jorgovanka Tabaković, made the first instant payment with a mobile phone using the IPS QR code. The governor said that this method of payment will be made possible in the sales facilities of the company Mercator S and through the bank "Poštanska štedionica", and that she expects that other retail chains and banks will soon join the project. She said that only Sweden and China still have this type of payment.

She explained that in Serbia, every bank that has e-banking can provide a mobile phone payment service with a QR code, whose holder is the NBS.

In practice, it works as follows: As with any other purchase, when consumers come to the checkout, they wait for the seller to read the barcodes on the items and indicate that they want to settle the bill with instant payment.

Consumers will have two models available for initiating instant payments - "IPS show" and "IPS scan".

When he comes to the cash register in the store, the customer will open the mobile banking application of his bank and will be offered both options.

If he clicks on the "Show IPS" icon, he will first identify himself by entering a PIN, fingerprint or face scan. After that, an IPS QR code will appear on the phone screen, which the merchant will scan with a reader or camera on his mobile device that has an application installed for accepting instant payments.

By choosing the second option "IPS scan", the consumer will use the camera on his phone to read the IPS q-ar at the merchant on his mobile device or POS terminal. After that, the amount of the bill will appear in the customer's application, the payment of which is confirmed by one of the identification methods - by entering a PIN, fingerprint or face scan.

This type of payment has been working for a couple of years in China and the users are very satisfied.

Creating an account on Taobao

In addition, with the arrival of Alipay in Serbia, users in Serbia can create an account on the largest Chinese website Taobao and search and even pay for products.

By creating an account, you can use the following sites of the Alibaba Group: Alipay, Taobao, Tmall, Yitao, Juhuasuan, Alibaba International Station, Alibaba Chinese Station, Alibaba Cloud, Contacts, etc.

Theoretically, if you somehow come to an agreement with the sellers, you could also order products, but don't do that, no matter how tempting the prices are. If the sellers knew English, they would be on Aliexpress, so they won't understand you, besides, the prices on the Taobao site are lower because of the cost of shipping the product.

Taobao sellers sell goods within China and shipping costs are much lower than on AliExpress. It is true that you have sellers on Aliexpress who offer free shipping, but you must know that no matter how cheap the product is, the cost of transportation is included in its price.

One more thing, if you somehow pay for the goods through the Taobao site, you have no guarantee that they will reach you and you have no consumer protection provided by Aliexpress.

That is why we recommend that you continue to use Aliexpress for small individual orders.
